The Oklahoma Equestrian Trail Riders Association is celebrating its 50th anniversary. The OETRA tells News 9 more about teaching and advocating for trail riding on the Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages Porch.

Jeanette Zeller, the president of OETRA, says this organization is made up of only volunteers.

"The club has been an organization of all volunteers for 50 years. We help maintain the trails all across the state of Oklahoma," Zeller said. "We have 34 trail systems that we help maintain over 1000 miles of horse trails. So if people have horses and they wanna ride, they can join us at OETRA.com and become a member."

Zeller says that the number of horse trails in Oklahoma is declining.

“We're losing our trails to the neighborhoods and hikers and bikers,” Zeller said. “So this is our way of keeping our trails open so that we always have a place to ride.”
