The Deer Creek School District is buzzing with excitement as it prepares for the first day of school.
On Thursday, a teacher convocation set the stage for a new academic year, bringing together staff members eager to welcome students back to class.
Jordan Ryan took the Arca Continental Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages Porch to the event as educators from across the district gathered to gear up for the school year.
The event featured a roll call of teachers with various years of experience, from first-year teachers to those with over 40 years in the field.
The excitement reflected the dedication of the Deer Creek staff.
Sidney Rashidzada, a Pre-K teacher, shared what motivates her each year.
"It's the kids," she said. "They’re the most amazing things on the planet. Also, the support from my colleagues here is incredible."
She offered advice to new teachers, emphasizing the importance of staying focused on students and not getting overwhelmed by external pressures.
"We work hard to create a positive environment that supports the best education for all kids," she said.
The event also included a cheer led by the school captains, setting the tone for the upcoming football season and the new school year.
Deer Creek students will return to class on Wednesday.
