As the high school football season approaches, teams in Sand Springs and Lincoln Christian are gearing up for what they hope will be successful seasons.

Sand Springs, a playoff team from Class 6A D-II last year, is looking to overcome a four-year streak of second-round exits.

With quarterback Easton Webb and running back Ollie McCoy returning to lead the offense, the Sandites are confident in their ability to make a deep playoff run in 2024.

The team has its sights set on improving both offensively and defensively to ensure they can compete late into the season.

"We want to be more explosive offensively and defensively we wanna make more plays," Sand Springs head coach Bobby Klinck said. "Obviously, we want to win games and wanna make a deep run coming into the playoffs and hopefully in late November and early December and that's just some of our goals this year. I haven't had to sugarcoat it at all to them that this is probably the most talented football team we've had and we've got some things we got to work on. But the skies the limit to this group."

Lincoln Christian, the reigning Class 3A state champions, will face a new challenge this year as they move up to Class 4A.

The Bulldogs return their leading receiver, but many key positions including running back are still up for grabs during fall camp.

Adding to the excitement, head coach Jerry Ricke's son, Carter, is set to take over as the starting quarterback.

Despite the challenges ahead, expectations remain high at Lincoln Christian, with the team committed to continuing its winning tradition.

"Well the expectations are pretty high, that's part of the reason our seniors have been able to do what they've done in the offseason," Lincoln Christian Head Coach Jerry Ricke said. "They want the expectations to remain high. I'd much rather have that, and our kids expect to do well and they know how to prepare to do well and they've seen it happen the past few years and watch the guys in front of them."
