A staple in Bricktown and the home to the world's largest collection of banjos, the American Banjo Museum details the history and journey of the iconic instrument.
On Thursday, the Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages Porch visited the museum to learn more.
In addition to the museum's collection of banjos, the institution also hosts events year-round.
Coming up, the museum's Executive Director Johnny Baier said they will host a Mardi Gras event on Feb. 22.
"We're going to do a Mardi Gras party," Baier said. "With New Orleans Dixieland jazz and some of the great New Orleans food and hurricane drinks, it's our favorite event."
Baier said the banjo is tied to New Orleans jazz, with its rhythmic pulse, that drive that every jazz band needs.
"They call it the heart and soul of a jazz band," Baier said. "So when you take the banjo in a banjo museum surrounded by Dixieland musicians, it's a win."
